The first day began with a warm welcome from Ms. Haidee Cortez, Director and Chairperson of the Internal Affairs Committee of the Philippine Cable Television Association (PCTA), who set the tone for the event. Ms. Dolly Chua, PCTA Director and Chairperson of the External Affairs Committee, then provided a detailed overview of the conference, outlining the key themes and objectives of the day. PCTA President, Mr. Jon Arayata, followed with an inspiring opening speech that emphasized the importance of collaboration in driving connectivity across the country.
The morning session featured a series of impactful messages from prominent figures in the industry. Engr. Benjz Gerard M. Sevilla, Vice President of External Affairs for the Institute of Electronics Engineers of the Philippines (IECEP), delivered a thought-provoking address. Atty. John Ryan Seguit, representing the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) Region III, also shared valuable insights. Mr. Bani Lara, NOC Manager of the Advanced Science and Technology Institute (ASTI) delivered a message emphasizing the role of science and technology in advancing national connectivity. The highlight of the morning session was a speech by Hon. Ivan John E. Uy, Secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), who inspired the audience with a vision of how local communities can play a pivotal role in enhancing connectivity and adding value to the nation’s digital future.
A key moment of the day was the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between PCTA Internet Exchange (PIXI) and several industry leaders, including ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, Royal Cablevision Corporation, and Ruijie Networks. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure, with the promise of unlocking new opportunities, driving innovation, and improving connectivity for communities nationwide.
The first day of the event featured two major sessions, with the afternoon dedicated to the Connectivity Conference. The conference included a series of insightful talks focused on the latest trends and technologies in the connectivity sector. One of the highlights was a presentation on "Next-Gen GPON Solutions" by Mr. Reggie Posadas, Country Manager of YFC-BonEagle International Inc. Mr. Bernard Chua, Country Head of eCloudvalley, and Mr. Carlo Malana, President and CEO of ST Telemedia Global Data Centres, also shared their expertise on the evolving landscape of digital infrastructure. Another highlight was a session by Mr. Ian Santos, known as "The Sales Sensei" from IMS Learning & Consulting Institute of Sales, who delivered an engaging talk on "Outsmarting the Goliath: Effective Ways to Sell in Provincial Areas." This was followed by a quick interactive game and an informative talk led by Mr. Cio Ko, Lead of the Wholesale Domestic Team at InfiniVAN, which provided attendees with valuable insights into the evolving business landscape. The afternoon wrapped up with a presentation by Mr. Myles Santos from Globe Business, who shared key trends and strategies for businesses to thrive in the ever-evolving digital space.
The event concluded with an inspiring message from Mr. Leo Wong, Vice Chairman of the PCTA, who thanked attendees for their participation and encouraged continued collaboration among stakeholders to realize the potential of a more connected Philippines.
