Elpidio M. Paras Assumes PCTA Presidency
for Fiscal Year 2010-2011
In its first regular meeting held on June 10, 2010 at the association's office, the members of the PCTA Board of Directors elected Engr. Elpidio Paras as president for the fiscal year 2010 - 2011. Engr. Paras is a former president of the PCTA, having served from 1998 until 2000 and is the first one to be re-elected in the same capacity.

Accepting the Challenge
When I joined the PCTA nearly two decades ago, it did not cross my mind that I would be at the helm of the industry association at least once. My first foray into the presidency came virtually due to my absence in the board's electoral meeting. At that time, the board had a difficult impasse, wherein the two presidentiables could not get the majority's mandate and a compromise between the two could not be achieved. Someone in the group somehow thought that it would be a good idea to offer the position to me. After a quick long distance phone call, I had made the decision to accept the challenge and the rest is history.

Visits Dagupan City
Simultaneous with the main event of the annual Bangus Festival in Pangasinan, the PCTA Technical Committee in cooperation with the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) conducted a two-day technical seminars at Lenox Hotel in Dagupan City last April 29-30, 2010.

Celebrates 18th PCTA Convention
Following a well-loved tradition while defying economic indicators and naysayers, the Philippine Cable Television Association (PCTA) organized and hosted another successful convention last March 16 to 19, 2010 once again at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.

Convention Opening Ceremony
Finally, on March 17, the formal opening ceremony of the 2010 PCTA Convention was held with Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) Secretary Ray Anthony Roxas-Chua as keynote speaker and National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) Commissioner Gamaliel Cordoba as special guest. Secretary Roxas-Chua congratulated the association for holding such an event that brought together the leaders and stakeholders of the cable, ICT, telecommunications, and broadcast industries.
