Technical Seminar at the "Province of Festivals."
Iloilo City, dubbed as the "Province of Festivals" and known for their charm and sweetness that comes from the musical intonation of their dialect, was the recent destination of the PCTA Technical Seminar.
After two (2) years, the PCTA Technical Committee headed by its chairman, Engr. Julian Z. Ventura went back to Iloilo City to conduct a two-day simultaneous technical seminars at Sarabia Manor and Convention Center last September 25-26, 2008. A new set of curricula was implemented for the Technical Seminar for Cable Installers and for Cable Technicians. The topics for the installers are: CATV Systems Overview, SDU External, SDU/MDU Internal Installation, OSP Construction Part 1, OSP Construction Part 2 and OSP Construction Part 3. On the other hand, the topics for the cable technicians are: Headend System, Fiber Optic Fundamentals, System Design, TV System, Distribution System Part 1 and Distribution System Part 2.
On the afternoon of day 1, a Cable Operator's Regional Forum sponsored by Creative Programs, Inc. was held. It was attended by owners and key executives of different cable companies. Some of the PCTA directors as well as NTC Regional Director Eleuterio P. Navarro, Jr. were in attendance to address the concerns of the cable operators in the region. The technical seminar for cable installers was attended by 27 participants while the technical seminar for cable technicians was attended by 18 participants.
The next technical seminar will be in November at Legazpi City, Albay. See you all there!
