Southern Luzon Technical Seminar and Forum

Everything was set and invitations were emailed and sent out to all PCTA members in the Ilocos Region. But due to typhoon Pepeng that devastated the country, particularly Region 1, the committee decided to look for an alternative venue for the seminars. Quick decisions were made to keep track of the scheduled date of seminars for the fiscal year. Finally, it was then decided to hold the seminar in Los Baņos, Laguna for our members in the Southern Luzon Region.
Though the preparations were done in less than two (2) weeks, members from Region IV warmly welcomed the PCTA group during the two-day technical seminar held at the Splash Mountain Resort Hotel on October 22-23. Twenty-nine (29) cable systems from the CALABARZON and MIMAROPA regions participated in the seminar, with 41 technical personnel attending the seminar for Cable Installers and 43 attending the seminar for Cable Technicians. During the Regional Forum, which was held on the afternoon of October 22, cable operators got a chance to interact and ask questions confronting the CATV business. There was a lively discussion when issues on MTRCB fees and provincial franchise tax was brought up. Mr. Leo S. Wong, PCTA President and Ms. Anne Belmonte, Chairman-Internal Affairs, assured the members, especially the affected parties, that the association is going to make a strong move on these matters.
Creative Programs, Inc. (CPI), C-COR Broadband Philippines, and TV5 Monde Asia sponsored the South Luzon Forum.
A final exam was given to the attendees on the last day of the seminar. Those who emerged at the top were the following:
