Four Months to Go Before the PCTA Convention!

The PHILIPPINE CABLE TELEVISION ASSOCIATION, (PCTA) is staging for the 18th year the most prominent event in the cable television industry - the 2010 PCTA Convention. This event will take place once again at the SMX CONVENTION CENTER, Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City from March 16 to 19 this year.

For the 2010 edition, the PCTA Organizing Committee customized the Convention program to address all the needs of the participants (delegates and exhibitors) that will be joining the event, thus making the experience more fun and beneficial for everybody. The theme for this year is "Embracing the Digital Age" to highlight and shed more light on digitization and its impact on the cable industry.

Activities will start early Tuesday morning, March 16, with the traditional PCTA Golf Tournament at the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Gen. Trias, Cavite. In the afternoon, the session will start at the SMX meeting rooms. At the center of the pre-opening session are discussions on Corporate Social Responsibility focusing on child safety and environmental issues.

On Wednesday, March 17, the opening ceremony will take place at 9 o'clock in the morning, after which, the exhibition floor will be formally opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. As in the past conventions, the exciting exhibit will showcase the latest program offerings from different program companies and distributors, complemented by the newest technology and solutions available in the market. Plenary sessions on regulatory matters and digitization will precede the afternoon luncheon spiked by interesting product presentations. The committee made the schedule in such a way as to allow more time for exposure and marketing for all participants.

On Thursday, March 18, there will be two simultaneous sessions - for management and for technical people. Both sessions will start at 9 o'clock in the morning with exciting topics on content, effective management strategies, technology solutions for both analog and digital systems, subscriber management systems, and many more. The general assembly and election of new board members of the PCTA will take place after lunch while the technical session continues. The much-anticipated PCTA Fellowship Night wraps up the day's activity.

The highlight of the last day of the Convention on Friday, March 19, is the traditional Cablelympics - a technical quiz show open to all technical delegates. At the same time, the management sessions will discuss the other service platforms and community channels. The awarding of Loyalty Awards to long-time PCTA members will conclude the activity for the day.

This is the best time to sign up as delegates to the 2010 PCTA Convention. Not only due to the interesting program which is laid-out to maximize learning and camaraderie, but also for the affordable rates if one will sign up by the end of the year. The Convention Committee is giving a ten percent (10%) early bird discount from now until December 31, 2009, and a special rate of Three Thousand Pesos (Php3,000.00) for technicians. Technicians' slots are limited to the first 100 registrants with a full delegate registration. Regular rates will be applied after the said dates.

An exciting line-up of sponsors and exhibitors has assured their participation to the event. Five-time Gold Sponsor Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN Asia) is back, together with SES World Skies. Other long-time partners, Cable Box Office Shows and Systems (CABLE BOSS), HBO Asia, and TV5Monde are on board as Silver Sponsors. Among the perennial exhibitors that are supporting the annual Convention are Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN), Amity Satellite Systems Inc., MRMR Trading Enterprises / Far East Communication Company, Creative Programs Inc., CYO International, PCT International, and Ricklee Enterprises. The Committee asked the concerned parties present during the hearing to give their comment on the consolidated bill by August 17 in order to be considered. The Committee will then finalize the draft bill and submit it as the final Senate version which, after adoption, will be discussed together with the House version at the bicameral conference committee session.
